Guests at Nicole Miller Philadelphia are shopping for a good cause today.

From 12 pm to 8pm, shoppers can pick out their dress for Philadelphia Academies, Inc. annual fundraiser on May 1, 2010. The exclusive shopping event features the designer's latest fashions. Guests can munch on hors d o'euvres and sip cocktails while browsing through designs hot off the runway.

Plus, 10% of sales today will benefit Philadelphia Academies, Inc.

 

 

Lunch Time Line Dancing

On Monday, March 29, employees and friends gathered in the Hyatt's Grand Ballroom to get their groove on with The Bellevue's Head of Security June Donaldson. June teaches line dancing lessons all over the city and lent his expertise to us for the afternoon.

Admission to event was one or more canned food items. The line dancing event served as the kick off to The Bellevue's food drive, benefiting Philabundance.

Celebrate Spring with a little line dance instruction in The Bellevue's ballroom from noon to 1 pm, Monday, March 29. June Donaldson, the security chief at The Bellevue teaches line dancing on the side and he's bringing his skills to the building to celebrate spring and bring in donations for PhilAbundance.

Admission is one or more canned goods.

Walk and Run For a Good Cause

The American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter set up shop in the the Gourmet Food Court Thursday to promote their annual Walk and Run.

The Red Cross guys were handing out free t-shirts and information at the bottom of the escalators. The Walk and Run is April 17 in Fairmount Park.

Jazz Great Ramsey Lewis strolled through The Bellevue's lobby last night.

He's in town through Friday as the Spring 2010 Artist in Residence for Penn’s Center for Africana Studies.

Condolences to the Wachovia Building...

The Bellevue tips its hat to the Wachovia Building, the 1928 neighbor, which suffered damage in a fire last night. We can sympathize with the destruction to the magnificent front windows and hope for a speedy recovery!

Getting Ready for the Radnor Hunt Races

The 80th Annual Radnor Hunt Races will be held on Saturday, May 15 at the Radnor Hunt Club in Malvern. At the Sponsors' Luncheon held today the top sponsors were presented with a saddle blanket. From left: Betty Moran, Chairman of the Races and Purse Donor; Daryle Feistman, Assistant Property Director of The Bellevue; Tom Angelucci, Dealer Marketing Manager, Subaru of America; Ron Clark, Managing Director of Sales for BNY Mellon Wealth Management, and Skip Achuff, Director of Racing.

Matt Orth, a financial advisor at BNY Mellon Wealth Management, was a fun tablemate. He probably makes managing wealth fun too.

With this reservation you'll be guaranteed one of 350 spots in line to meet the (mhhmmm, searching for adjective but the only one that does her justice is:) hot star of a multitude of cooking shows and author of countless books.

April 1st: that's the date you'll show up for the event scheduled between 5 and 7 and get in line, chat with your fellow Giada worshippers, enjoy samples from her cookbook, see product demonstrations and be generally wowed by her personality once you place your copy of her cookbook in front of her to sign.

The Palm Bar has a new Prime Bites Menu and it's great but it gets even greater from 5 to 7 and 9 til closing when everything on this delicious menu becomes $3.50.

That's right, Three Dollars and Fifty Cents. Kobe Beef Sliders, Filet Mignon Capri Sandwiches, Mini Broiled Crab Cakes, usually 10 to 12 dollars, only $3.50. An order of these or three of these along with a handcrafted cocktail and you my friend are ready to catch the train, face the wife, walk the dog, close the deal, or just head out the door.

Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project, met up with readers beforehand in XIX Bar, talked about the project and answered questions, then everyone went back to XIX Bar to enjoy more Happiness Cocktails and continue the conversation.

Woman on Top of "The Happiness Racket" Here Tonight

Gretchen Rubin, the author of The Happiness Project was featured in an article in Sunday's New York Times entitled, The Woman on the Top of the Happiness Racket. Wouldn't you like to meet her? You can at a free event in the Rose Garden of The Hyatt at The Bellevue tonight at 7.

In honor of author Gretchen Rubin's Happiness Project book tour, the bar at XIX has created a specialty cocktail for the occasion...and what is happier than a cocktail?

The drink, appropiately named "The Happiness Cocktail: Pomegranate Lemonade," is comprised of citrus vodka, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, fresh pomegranate juice, topped with soda. Delish!

Join Gretchen tomorrow night (March 2) at 7 pm in the Hyatt's Rose Garden Room for this FREE event and be sure to try the "Happiness Cocktail" afterwards at XIX.

 

Bellevue's Food Court Ready for its Close Up

The Gourmet Food Court tenants smiled pretty today for photographer Shira Yudkoff. Shira is shooting the Food Court for a spring ad campaign to be featured in the Inquirer and Daily News. Keep an eye out for the ad in the coming weeks.
