Marching Down Broad

Today at noon supporters of the arts gathered on the corner of Broad and Walnut to voice their opposition to the new tax on ticket sales for the arts.

Several hundred people gathered outside of The Bellevue, where Senator Larry Farnese, Senartor Daylin Leach, and Senator Mike Stack spoke to the crowd before their march on the Avenue of the Arts to the Arts Bank.

Margie Salvante, executive director of Theater Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, said "We are not here to protest the Governor, we love the Governor. It is a coincidence that the Governor's offices are located in The Bellevue, where we began the rally. We are here to rally against the tax on the arts and to support the arts in Philadelphia."
